So, what does it cost to purchase and install an EV charger. A guide would be approx. £400-£800 for a standard 7kW home charger depending on what extra's you might want, and a straightforward/standard installation through Pure Charge would cost approx. £400-£500 in mainland UK.
Some charge point companies such as Pure Charge offer both the charger and an installation service, sometimes companies bundle the cost of installation together with the charger. This won't be a guaranteed price however because in order to confirm the installation fee there needs to be a survey (most can be done online).
The survey will look to see if the installation is classed as 'standard’, e.g. sufficient electricity mains board, no extra cabling needed, or extra-thick exterior walls to drill through. This is why at Pure Charge we price the chargers separately and then support this with a few quick questions relating to the installation. Then we can confidently quote an installation fee. We highly recommend, due to how different houses can be, that you get a separate quote for the installation.

Faster 22kW chargers are also available for the home but they need a three-phase power supplies which most UK households do not have. You might consider getting a power supply upgrade but this can cost from £3,000, up to and sometimes over £15,000 depending on the nature and location of your home and its electricity supply.
EV chargers have become pretty advanced in recent years, with wi-fi connectivity and dedicated smartphone apps classed as standard. Their prices are also slowly coming down. Units with their own LCD display screen rather than relying solely on an app can be more expensive, as can those which can be linked to solar panels. Budget around £800 to £1,200 for a more sophisticated charger.
